We have so much for you all today! Hump Day is here and before the weekend rolls around, we thought we would have some fun today with a Riddle, some Maki-Health, an Announcement and some Old Time Radio!

SLEEP!

 

Sleep is one of the most important things for not only your immediate health, but also your long term health. Poor sleep can make it hard to function cognitively on any given day. Things that could be easy for your wit you can struggle with because you didn't get enough sleep last night, or this month. Are you struggling with our riddles? You may just need a better sleep routine to figure them out!

 

Now how do we get there so that we can build a good health foundation by fixing our sleep?

 

Set a routine time:

 

Try to be in bed at the same time every night so that your body can be on a more even rhythm. I used to deliver pizza for a living and a few things I realized was first: I wasn't going to bed early anymore. Second: I was never gonna be in bed before 2:00am. I was tired a lot so I made it clear to myself. Be in bed at 3:00am every night(Or was it morning?) It was late and I would never want to do it again, but it was consistent and made my sleep better.

 

Make a space that is for sleeping:

 

Maybe it's just a corner or a whole room. A bed room should be for sleeping, storing clothes and shoes and spending very little time in if that is possible for you.(This one is more of a tip for the adults in the room.) Doing that will signal your body "If I am in here I must be getting ready to sleep."

 

Stay away from the phone: 

 

If you want to be in bed by 10:00pm then be off the phone by 9:00pm. That hour of away form your phone is a real deal maker. That bright blue light you bask in under your sheets and you could sit there for hours unable to sleep. Put it away and typically the boredom alone will give you the ZZZZ's.

 

Stop eating before bed:

 

This is a great mental trick! If you're in bed by 10:00pm but stop eating at 7:00pm with the rule that you won't eat again till you wake up, you'd be amazed how much your body likes to eat and will make you tired so you can wake up and eat again. Plus, you just snuck in a little fast on top of things.

 

Make your bed...in the morning:

 

If you're like me, you do gymnastics in your sleep. My bed is a wreck every morning and sure, I could leave it like that and fix it before bed, but, that isn't a good winding down practice. Make your bed can start to get the blood flowing and your brain thinking, thus, waking you up. Have a place that is always ready for you to plop down and sleep is the best way to fall to sleep.

 

Caffeine: 

 

Do I really need to explain this one? Stop drinking it many hours before bed so it can be metabolized and gone and you can make the most important appointment of the day. Bed time.

 

Conclusion:

 

People with lack of sleep can have greater emotional swings and if you're someone that believes in being as mentally healthy as we are believers in being physically healthy, then we know sleep is the vital ingredient to good health. Be sure to count sheep so you never run out of energy like a real hero reaching for the sky in all you do!
